Hope is in surgery

I can't tell you how much I really don't like the head IVs.

A few updates.  Jerry brought Hope up to the hospital yesterday.  We were told she needed to be here by noon, so Jerry brought her and I took the boys to Chuck E Cheese for Amanda's Birthday Party.  The reason they wanted Hope here early was to start her IV so that she was well hydrated for the surgery.  I really don't understand why they needed her early though...they didn't put the IV in until after 5 pm.  She had a pretty good night and slept most of it...other than when she got hungry.

About 7 am we met with Dr. Mavroudis and a bunch of other doctors, nurses, etc. to talk more about the surgery.  Shortly after that...Jerry carried her to the OR.  I took her to the Cath Lab and it was really hard watching them put her under, so I elected not to go back.  I kissed her when they took her from her room and then broke down.  It is very scary knowing that they are working on her heart right now.

I will update more throughout the day.

Please keep us all in your thoughts and prayers.

  1. Awww... those head IV's are the WORST!! Praying for Hope, your family and her medical team that all goes well today. I wish I was there to give you a big hug. :( I know what you're feeling right now. Keeping you all in my thoughts today...

  2. Paula, I have been thinking of you guys all morning. That is a really cute picture of all the kids. :) I hope that everything goes perfectly and that you guys all get to get home and back to normal ASAP. :)

  3. I love the pic of Mommy with all her babies. Your description of handing her over to the doctors is exactly the moment that I dread most when Olivia's born in a couple of weeks - and I know it won't be the only time I have to go through it.

I'm thinking of you guys today, best of luck with everything for Miss Hope!

  4. Hang in there! You've got lots of people praying for you, Hope, and the entire team of surgeons, doctors, etc. who will be caring for her. It's hard to turn her over but just trust in the Lord that He has His hand on her and she will be a much happier and healthier baby after this surgery. God bless you! You're in our thoughts and prayers!

  5. Hope is in our thoughts and prayers along with the rest of your family! She is a strong, brave fighter who will be so much stronger after this. Hugs to you all!
