Swollen and Still Open

The doctors decided that Hope is still too swollen, so they did not close her up today.  They have her scheduled to be closed tomorrow morning at 7 am.  Dr. Mavroudis stopped by and told us he was pleased with her progress and would be in tomorrow morning to close her up.  It should take them around 2 hours to close her up...this includes the prep time and the time after the surgery to make sure she is situated in her room.  Her vital signs have all been good today and they took her oxygen down to 33 by the time we left today.  They are working on getting more fluid off of her and they stopped the Lasix late last night because she was peeing too much and it made her blood pressure drop.  She is still getting rid of fluid without the Lasix and the Nephrology team is happy with her urine output.

They also started her on lipids and TPN today, so she is getting nutrition as well as all of the pain medicine and sedatives she is on.

We picked Destiny up today and she got to see Hope all swollen too.  I am sure seeing her heart beating while Hope was laying there was a little scary for her, but she took everything very well.  Other than that, today was pretty uneventful and that is always a good day!  We thank God every day there is an uneventful day with Hope.

  1. when they're happy with peeing output, these are the sweet words you want to hear. I'm praying that Hope's incision is closed today. Stay strong, we're all praying for you and your family too.

  2. Hello !
Just wanted to let you know that members of the Wodzisz family I don't think you've ever met are following your journey and praying for you and Hope ! She's a Wodzisz so she's a fighter ! Stay Strong ! The Cleveland Clinic is the best place for you to be.
    Bob & Shoshana Wodzisz
Bob is son of Eugene (Gene) Wodzisz, who is son of Albert & Anna Wodzisz. I believe Jerry (Hope's dad) is son of Jerry who is brother to Bernie ?
